Kentucky Football
Football greetings, Tiger fans!
On Saturday, our beloved Tigers move to 7-2 after a win against the Wildcats from the University of Kentucky. After a weeks’ worth of blue around here, more blue to town on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
The tailgate situation will involve chili, hot dogs, and tamales. Because chili and tamales go together like Kentucky and football. As usual, sides and/or desserts would be suggested bringing items.
Go Tigers. Beat the new ku. (and on a side note, screw ku.)
Earning Our Stripes
Homecoming greetings, Tiger fans!
Fall colors, blue skies, beautiful weather, and football victories, that’s the way I like it. This Saturday our beloved Tigers host the Commodores from Vanderbilt University. It’ll be like playing a bad Colorado team from days gone by. Wrong color of gold, not much of a visiting crowd, and a team Mizzou will be happy to beat.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., I’ll be at the tailgate a long time before that. Bryan and Val Ninichuck are providing Buckinghams for the main fare. Sides, dessert items, a hunger for victory and a thirst for celebrating winning would be welcome additions. Call Wingate Lawn and Pest Management for all your lawn and pest management needs.
Mizzou is making an effort to “tiger stripe” the stadium. Fans are to wear either black or gold depending on where you’re sitting. A black and gold map is helpfully attached. Sadly, a video of the Larry Smith-era “Earning Our Stripes” commercial is not attached (or was it Woody-era?). Google, you failed me, in my efforts to continue “…. working hard, for Ole Mizzou. Earning Our Stripes!”
Go Tigers, beat the ‘Dores. Keep winning, SEC East Champions hooray. On a side note, Go Royals! (and screw ku.)
Mizzou GAme
Football greetings Tiger fans!
This Saturday our beloved Tigers take on the Bulldogs from Georgia at 11:00 a.m. Hooray for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff, I never ever ever ever never said. Never ever. Tailgate will begin before you get out of bed, most likely, so arrive when you will.
Given the early start time, we’ll have some minimal breakfast stuff there. We’ll have more breakfast stuff there if you choose to bring some.
It should be an awesome day on Saturday. Mizzou beats Georgia early, Royals beat Orioles in the middle, Cardinals beat the Giants late. Go Team Missouri. and on a side note, screw ku.
“Hoosier” “football” “tailgate”
What’s better than 3-0? 4-0! (Although I’m sure they meant to say 15-0. Never mind, they’re just taking it one game a time, giving 110%, doing what they do.)
Anyway, this Saturday, our beloved Tigers take on the Indiana Hoosiers. Kickoff is at 3:00 pm. They are a “football” team from the “Big 10” conference. I hold that they’re not much of a football team, the Big 10 isn’t that big, and certainly isn’t 10. Further, their players don’t seem to wear jean shorts, rock a mullet, live in the outskirts of STL county, or misspell signs about how dumb you are.
In honor of the Big 10’s lack of ability to count, or play football, the “theme” this week is food that doesn’t consist of what the name says it is. Buffalo wings from CJ’s and D. Rowes are the main fare, pulled pork will also be in attendance. Sides and desserts would be the best bringing options, if you’re looking for those. (A theme based on Missouri hoosiers was also briefly considered, but how many Imo’s and T-ravs would have been enough?)
Last week, I indicated a score of 38-20 as the final outcome. Sorry defense, 38-10 was the actual result. Last year Mizzou beat Indiana 48-28. So, 45-14 is the prediction.
I’m guessing food will show up at the tailgate right around Noon. I’ll be there considerably before that. Come when you will.
go Tigers! Good job Duke. and on a side note, screw ku.
UCF a Festering Wound
Happy football weather season, Tiger fans!
This Saturday the beloved black and gold Tigers take on the Knights from UCF. They are pretty decent, so I expect a close first quarter before the Tigers pull away. 38-20 final score.
Kickoff is at 11:01 a.m. That of course means early tailgating, which means breakfast stuff. There will almost certainly be vodka- and champagne-based orange juice beverages of some sort, and I’d imagine there will be gross tomato-based drinks as well. Those are gross, only because of the tomatoes, and you know, because of the name. Seriously, who came up with Bloody Mary? Gross. Seriously. Could I have a Festering Wound Bob please?
As much as I knew about Mizzou’s first opponent, I know about the same regarding UCF. They lost some good players, have some good players replacing them, gave Penn State a great game in Ireland to open the season, and have almost all the letters in their name necessary to complete my favorite phrase regarding ku.
Come tailgate when you will. I’ll be there early (anyone want to join me early for tent setup?), most of you will arrive in time to tailgate for a few minutes before going to this way too early start.
Go Tigers. 15-0. and on a side note, UCF ku.
FOOOOOOTBAAAAALLLLLotDLLLLALALALLALLAL
Happy Football Season Tiger Fans!
The happiest time of the year is here again, made happiest again by some hot D Lot tailgate action. The Tigers begin the season on Saturday, at 2:32, with a contest against SDSU.
The tailgate will begin early. Come when you will. The ladies have decided we need themes for every game, along with a few other things. This game the theme is (wait for it, wait for it, wait for it….) Black and Gold. Hamburgers are black, cheese is gold. Boom. So, we’ll have hamburgers (hopefully not burnt black) and hotdogs. If bringing something, a side or a dessert seems like a good idea.
I know nothing about the Jackrabbits of SDSU. Evidently they have a good running back. They were 9-5 last year. Their coach is named John Stiegelmeier. I assume his middle name is Jacob. Whenever he’s about, the people always shout….
Also, I assume all their players thought they were going to San Diego State. No no, sorry, recruits, we’re SDSU, you know, South Dakota State. Oh, what’s that, you thought you were going to San Diego? No, no. We’re the Jackrabbits. Yeah, the Jackrabbits. No, all one word. Jackrabbits. Just think of us as San Diego, (You) Sucker U.
Go Tigers. 15-0! Yay football! and on a side note, screw ku.
Yay Football!
Happy Thanksgiving Tiger Fans,
On Saturday, well, you know, Football!!! and such. Mizzou hosts Texas A&M at 6:45 p.m. When the Tigers win to move to 11-1, they’ll earn the right to play for the SEC Championship the following weekend. A win will also give Coach Pinkel victory number 101, putting him in a tie with some guy named Faurot for most all-time at Mizzou.
We’ll be tailgating early, potentially with a heater involved. Definitely with some food involved, courtesy of Jim Yankee of Flat Branch Home Loans (and Hoss’s Market). They’re conveniently located next door to a brewery, so there’s another reason to call Flat Branch for all your home loan needs. Food will be served beginning around 3:00, the menu will include: Smoked Pork Steak, Rotisserie Chicken, Au Gratin Potatoes, Green Beans, and Coleslaw. So, if bringing something, a dessert or snack item is probably a good choice.
Not bringing extra beer is also a good choice. After beating the Aggies (whoop!), the number two goal of the tailgate is to empty ours and the Messers’ fridge of tailgate beer.
Go Tigers, and go in to the game early to support these seniors, they’ll become the first Tigers ever to take Faurot Field with 10 wins under their belt.

I went to Vegas two weeks ago. I bet on the beakers to lose, naturally. Even more naturally, that was their first Big XII-ish victory in three years or so. screw ku.
Go TIGERS!!!!
Beat Old Rocky Top. Woo!
Happy Game 6 of the World Series day, Tiger fans,
November is (almost) here, which means we’re down to the last two football home games.
Boo. Thankfully, after a disappointing season-opening loss to South Carolina, the Tigers got on track and have now won 7 games in a row to move to 7-1, ranked #10 in the polls, #9 in the BCS. Shut up, that was too the order of things. Yes it was. Yes, it was. Yes it was. Shut up. La la la la la, I can’t hear you.
This Saturday, Mizzou hosts the Tennessee Volunteers, the OK State of the SEC. #OrangePantsBrotherhood. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:06 pm, we’ll be at the tailgate early afternoon.
Lutz’s BBQ is providing some meat and chips, courtesy of Kim Becking and Momentum Public Strategies. We figured what better time than now, with all the Momentum from our 7 straight victories. Seriously, shut up, that’s how it has happened. Regardless, 13-1 is almost as good as 14-0. Would still result in National Championship, which would be ok I guess.
Go Tigers, Beat the Vols. Go Cardinals, beat the Red Sox. Call Kim for all your Momentum Public Strategy needs.
and on a side note, screw ku.
SCar-y Gamecocks
Gamecocks.
Anyway, football time is coming again. On Saturday, our beloved Tigers take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm. The Tigers are 7-0 and SCar is not, so yay us, come on victory. It should be nice all afternoon, so imagine I and some combination of kids will be out there all afternoon. Kim & I will contribute chicken wings of some variety, so come when you will and bring what you will.
Gamecocks.
Mizzou doesn’t really yet have a rival in the SEC. Although, I’m pretty sure Florida became the first team to hate us somewhere around (exactly at) the time the entire stadium was doing the synchronized Gator Chomp thing to We Will Rock You. (or We Will Mock You. or We Will Mauk You.) But maybe it could be the…
Gamecocks?
A stupid bird. It kind of even rhymes with another stupid bird name. At least it’s a real creature, though, not a bird of the mythical shoe-wearing variety, but still. I normally try to make a joke in here somewhere. But, come on,
Gamecocks?
Go Tigers, Beat um, South Carolina. and on a side note, screw ku.
It’s Great, to Beat, the Florida Gators
6-0, 6-0, 6-0! Some very wise person predicted a 14-0 season this (every) year. The same very wise person predicted a #14 ranking after Mizzou beat Georgia. I now predict I’ll win the lottery one day this month (no point being too specific with that one, anytime this month will be fine).
This Saturday, our beloved Tigers take on the Florida Gators. My first experience with Gator fan came years ago in a sports bar in San Antonio, where some, um, what’s the word, jackass ran around the bar incessantly chanting “It’s Great, to be, a Florida Gator!” I have no idea who they were playing, who won, or why I was even there (so, who was Mizzou playing?), but I remember him clearly. Good work, you guy. (And please withhold your comments about the people in front of us at Faurot feeling the same about us, they secretly love us. Saw one of them in Athens, even, who made sure to ask if I was going to call Georgia “cheaters”?)
Anyway, Saturday, Tigers vs Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:21. Tailgating will be had, but it’ll be in whatever fashion the attendees choose to contribute. It’ll be set up before you get out of bed, I’ll hang out for a while, then Adelaide has a soccer game at 9:00, so will head to that (Go Argentina 12U!), back before kickoff sometime.
Kim is headed to California this weekend. She’ll be completing a 200-mile bike ride over the weekend, raising funds for the Young Survival Coalition. YSC is “is the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women diagnosed with breast cancer.” Should you be so inclined, read more about it and/or feel free to donate here.
Go Kim, 200-miles.
Go Tigers, beat the Gators.
and on a side note, screw ku.*
